| Powers: Selene is a mutant with various superhuman powers. She sustains herself by psionically draining the life force of other beings. If she drains a victim's entire life force, the victim dies, and his or her body crumbles into dust. Selene achieves a measure of mental control over the minds of her victims. Selene can also cause a victim to become a psychic vampire like herself, subject to her will. It has not been revealed how often Selene has to "feed" in order to survive. Selene also has incredible physical strength, speed rivaling that of Quicksilver, stamina, and reflexes that are several times as great as those of a normal human woman. Also, she is immortal, and is able to sustain severe physical injuries without dying. Selene also possesses telekinetic abilities that give her control over inanimate objects and pyrokinetic abilities. While she cannot rearrange the atomic or molecular structures of matter, she can cause inanimate matter within her vicinity to disintegrate. Selene also possesses considerable magical abilities, having gained a great deal of mystical knowledge over the millennia of her life. The number of magical effects she can create has yet to be revealed, but it is known that she can cast spells, counteract spells being cast, and summon demons. She also has the ability to transform herself into a mist form, temporarily hypnotize people, she is an incredibly powerful telepath and has an enhanced healing factor which enables her to sustain herself even after near fatal wounds. |

| History: Selene is an External, a mutant with the power of immortality and has lived for at least several millennia. Renowned as a sorceress whose power was feared, she eventually made her way and settled in the ancient Roman Republic. |
| In recent years, to return to the time of the Romans that she once loved, Selene kidnapped hundreds of humans and used her mental powers to brainwash them into thinking that they were descendants of Roman citizens who fled Rome in the First Century, BC. They formed a city in the Amazon Jungle named Nova Roma. |
| Once Nova Roma was established, Selene married a Nova Roman "senator" named Marcus Domitius Gallio (another of her victims, his real name has not been revealed). Together, Gallio and Selene plotted to dismantle the republican Nova Roman Government. The intervention of the New Mutants thwarted Gallio's schemes and led to Selene's apparent destruction. Selene escaped, and eventually found her way to New York, where she established a cult worshipping her as a goddess, and joined the Inner Circle of the Hellfire Club, becoming its Black Queen. |
| In a few short years, Selene successfully helped the Hellfire Club to reach it's greatest heights along with Sebastian Shaw, Emma Frost and Tristan Lehnsherr. In the Fall of 2000 she was vital in their nemesis' destruction. Selene alone murdered Professor Charles Xavier, as well as the Master of Magnetism, Magneto, with the help of the White King, Tristan. |
| Still more recently, since the X-Men's fall Selene has busied herself with quiet and subtle workings. She is rumoured to be working alongside a man named Nathaniel and quite possibly the insanely deadly mutant Mountjoy, her supposed Black Rook. She keeps a constant eye out for any rebels who may show themselves, as well as on her fellow Inner Circle members. |
