History: Pathologically shy, Clarice was naturally uncomfortable around people. This psychological condition was made worse when her mutant power manifested itself. What she remembers of the experience is that she woke up in a pool of blood. She then vowed to never use her power on another living being again. |
She was discovered by Charles Xavier, who placed her name on a list of candidates for a new generation of mutant students, known as Generation X. Unfortunately, the list was discovered by the Phalanx, techno-organic beings that had infiltrated the X-Mansion and searched the computer. Phalanx agents were sent out to capture her and the other students. |
While a captive of the Phalanx, Clarice met the other students, including M, who helped them escape. The students were assisted by the X-Men. The group found themselves up against Harvest, a very powerful member of the Phalanx Collective. Clarice realized the only way to save her new friends was to blink Harvest out of existance and she did so, saving humanity. |
Consequently Generation X was never formed and Blink became a full-fledged X-Man member. Not too terribly long after, however, Clarice faced a much greater threat. In the Fall of 2000 she was a vital member against the Hellfire Club and she escaped with her life, but at the same time she lost some of her friends. Choosing to stay with the remainder of the X-Men, Blink is now helping to rebuild from their losses, hoping one day to avenge her friends. |
