[The play opens in the Hellfire Club Mansion Throne Room.  Selene is sitting perfectly stage center on her throne.  Emma Frost is positioned slightly stage right of Selene.  She can either be standing, or in a throne of her own.  Marcus is standing stage left of Selene, slightly more downstage.  Tristan is further downstage left, staring out a window and facing the audience. Music begins playing and after a few seconds the lights come on inside the Hellfire Club Mansion's Throne Room]

Selene:  ...Thank you Marcus for that delightful tid-bit of information regarding
Mr. Hendrickson's corporations.  Am I correct in assuming that within the next
three months the industry will be under your charge indefinitely?

Marcus:  You are indeed, my Queen.  My father's will insures that I am now the
successor to the "family business".  Oh, and forgive me your Highness for not
mentioning this earlier, but the stocks have risen well above where they were
previously thought to have leveled off.

Selene:  Excellent!!  You are no doubt a fine addition to the Hellfire's Inner Circle.
[exchanges a glance with Emma]  Don't you agree, Miss Frost? [eyes now focused
on Marcus]

Emma Frost:  Indubitably.  The story with Frost Enterprises is much the same.
Unfortunately [Selene's eyes snap towards Frost] we have a week until the quarter
ends and we are just under our goal.  I am quite confident, however, that we will
reach it.

Selene:  Be sure that you do, Emma.  Frost Enterprises has not done as well as the
Club would have liked the past two quarters.

Emma:  I realize that Selene.  [a bit annoyed]  Forgive me, but I believe it has
something to do with Shaw's mysterious 'death'.

Selene:  And speaking of the devil. . .

Emma:  [cuts off Selene] My point is, Selene, I wish permission to head up Shaw
Industries in lieu of the aforementioned.

Selene:  I do not appreciate being interrupted like that, Miss Frost.

Emma:  Neither do I.

Selene:  You would do well to remember who is now in charge of the Hellfire Club
since Sebastian's unfortunate demise. [pointed glare towards Emma] Now to continue what I was saying in regards to what the 'esteemed' White Queen brought to the Club's attention, Shaw Industries will now be under my personal control.  In light of the fact that Frost Enterprises has done only moderately well lately in comparison to previous years, I would not even consider handing you Shaw's establishment.  Any objections to this are to be voiced now.

Tristan: [He has been silently listening to the conversation, only now having
something to say.  His position is a bit cut off from the others as his gaze constantly
shifts outside of a nearby window.] With your permission, Selene, I will head
Shaw Industries. [turns his head to Selene fully] Being that my own, Hellfire
Enterprises, is on the rise I would make sure profits double. Also I am indebted to
Shaw. Consider it deserved payback.

Selene:  A brave proposition, Mr. Lehnsherr.  Your intentions are no doubt noble
and as such, I have no objections.

Emma:  You've heard my pleas and with that in mind, I have no further objections.
That leaves the White Rook.  Marcus?

Marcus:  How can I disagree with royalty?  Let alone such beautiful royalty.  [charming
smile] I'm not opposed.

Selene:  Excellent!  Tristan, Shaw Industries is in your hands.  Do see that we
receive considerable profits by next quarter.

Tristan:  Of course.

Selene:  Business aside, we do have a pressing question that presents itself to us at
this moment.  Who will take Sebastian Shaw's place in the Hellfire Club as King?
Never in the two hundred-year history of the Club have we ever been without a
King.  The media, however, demands answers and a new King.

Emma:  Agreed.  In seniority, Tristan is most likely to be inducted as King, Marcus
only having been a member for a period of thirteen months.

Tristan:  And Tristan has no immediate desire to be King.

Selene:  Nor a supporter to petition you.  Also, in the recent weeks since our Black
King's death, I've noticed a strict incline in profits not only economically, but our
political hold in Asia and South America has increased tremendously as well.  Our
representatives have received much needed media attention and funds have
become free-flowing.  I have no desire to recant my position of authority in regards
to the Club.  Profits have been too generous to let our stronghold waver.

Marcus:  No doubt in relation to your rulership, my Queen.

Emma:  [sarcastically] Oh, no doubt.  What is your point, Selene?

Selene:  I propose that we continue this recent trend, Miss Frost.  Your corporation
excluded, *all* have done exceedingly well.  In the Club's best interest I move for
a period without a King and myself, reigning Black Queen of the Hellfire Club, in
charge.

Emma:  Point duly noted.  Though, as it stands now Selene, we are not as well off
as you may like to think we are and perhaps even boast we are above the law.
There is still a matter of the rebels.  Although the media attention has indeed
contributed to our influx of funds, they have conversely added attention to the
X-Men.  Their followers may grow greater than our endless supply of funds,
Selene.  Sebastian's death has not helped at all in such regards.

Selene:  [temper visibly flares, but restrains herself] All this talk of Shaw greatly
bothers me, dear Emma.  If you have unresolved matters with the dead, then
consult the dead.  Do not bring it back into Club matters *ever* again.  His death
was tragic, but our concerns lie with the here and now.  As for the X-Men, the
rebels will be dealt with in due time.  You needn't worry about such trivial things,
darling.  I assure you they will not remain a threat for much longer.

Emma:  Even so, they are a threat currently and should be dealt with accordingly.
You may believe you hold the absolute authority, Selene, but the Hellfire Club is
still a democracy in which all royal parties rule the Club fairly and equally.  I do
not need to remind you that I am the current and longstanding White Queen, do I?

Selene:  That as it may be, it leaves one to wonder, dear, sweet Emma... Why are
you not in my position at this very moment?  [pauses momentarily, leaving room
for answer] I thought as much.  The X-Men will be dealt with in an orderly and
timely fashion.  Let them think they have the upper hand.  Only then is when their
most horrifying and powerful defeat will occur.  I do indeed have plans for them,
but now is not the time.

Marcus:  It does indeed sound like that of an ingenious plan, My Queen.

Selene:  Why thank you, Marcus.  I did not think it bad myself.

Marcus:  However, I was leading towards something with your last statement.  It
was in regards to an earlier comment you made.

Selene:  [sounds a bit surprised, yet thoughtful] Is that so?  Do tell, darling.

Marcus:  [a bit uneasy, as opposition towards Selene is rare] 'A period without a
King.'  Perhaps Tristan does have seniority, but that does not mean I am unfit.  I am
quite sure I could produce a petitioner and gain the peop-

Selene:  [harsh tone] I think not, Mr. Hendrickson.  While you may be a valuable
Inner Circle member, like all things in life, your title is quite expendable.  [Selene
smiles darkly, as what she really means is that if he presses the issue it will be
death]

Marcus:  Perhaps you are righ- [pauses to catch himself in mid-sentence, preparing
to re-word it] You are indeed correct, Selene.  Forgive me.  I just thought that if
the media demanded a King, then we could give them one.  Tristan does not seem
much like the television personality, while I, on the other hand, have charisma.

Selene:  [sweetly at first] What you think, darling, is of [forceful "No", followed by
a demanding tone] NO concern to me.  You do not have the skills to even consider
posing as a King.  It would bring utter disgrace to the Club.  I refuse to have the
famous Hellfire Club's reputation stained by misleading our supportive public.

Marcus:  [nods subserviently] My apologies.  You are, as always, correct, M'Lady.

Selene:  [simply smiles broadly, her point thought to have gotten across]  Apology
accepted, Mr. Hendrickson.  We are all entitled to mistakes, but be sure that it does
NOT happen again.

Tristan:  If that is all, Selene, I do have matters elsewhere.

Emma:  As do I.  Are we finished?

Selene:  You three are free to go at will.  After all, this is an equal commitment to
the Club.  You have business to attend, then you do so at your leisure.  We will
reconvene to discuss the final quarterly reports one week from Thursday.

Tristan:  In which case, I bid you both good evening and farewell.  [nods to
Marcus, as well]

Selene:  Buoa sera ed addio a voi, pure, Tristan.  (Italian for good evening and
farewell to you as well, Tristan.) [Tristan exits USL]

Emma:  Good evening, Selene.  [nods in respect]

Selene:  Emma. [Emma moves to exit USR]

[Marcus proceeds after Emma, kisses her hand, mouths 'good evening' or
something along those lines to her and then lets her exit]

I fear I must bid you adieu as well, Marcus.

Marcus:  A pleasure as always, my Queen.  [helps her from her throne and kisses her hand, followed by a bow]

Selene:  Good evening.  [Selene exits USR]

[Lights fade with Marcus still on stage.  The music fades when the lights do]

Playwrights note:  Emma and Tristan are intended to exit on opposite sides of the stage.
As you will see in scene 2, the two meet secretly to discuss Club matters.  Selene exits the
same as Emma, as DSR is the typical entrance and exit.  If you want to look at it in
another light, Tristan is most often a separate person from the rest of the club, always
doing things a bit oddly but with his own agenda.

SCENE TWO

[The music comes on again before the lights do and once again the music plays for a few seconds.  Lights come on in Emma's Quarters, she is sitting alone on her bed awaiting someone's arrival.  Her pose is gently seductive.  Perhaps she is filing her nails.
Tristan enters silently and opens his mouth to speak.]

Emma:  I was beginning to wonder, Tristan, whether you would show. [she does
not look up from her filing]

Tristan:  [suave, yet uninterested] Say what is on your mind, Miss Frost and be
quick with it.

Emma:  [mock interest and a bit taunting, occasional glances towards Tristan] My,
aren't we in a hurry?  So it would seem our resident Black Bishop has an affair of
sorts to tend with this evening other than myself.  Care to share, Mr. Lehnsherr?

Tristan:  With you Miss Frost?  I shall pass on that.  Anything is more important
than listening to the dribble uttered from your lips.

Emma: [impressed] Touché.  [pauses, finally looking up to Tristan] Marcus
Hendrickson, you know him, of course. There is some information I've recently ...
acquired straight from the horse's mouth.  Something that may be of interest to you.

Tristan:  [folds arms, eyes virtually glaring] This small talk does not work, Emma.
Get to your point. [Emma moves to speak, but is promptly cut off] I do not care
what you think will perhaps interest me.  I shall be the judge of that.  Say what you
wish and be done with it.

Emma:  [shrugs, setting down her nailfile if one was used] Very well.  Marcus, as it has been made blatantly obvious by his poorly constructed flirting techniques, is in the Hellfire Club primarily for power.  For Kingship.  It is no secret, especially since his attempt earlier this evening to persuade Selene into letting him pose as King.  It failed of course.

Tristan:  I was there, Frost.  I heard as did everyone else.

Emma:  [nonchalantly as if she'd never been interrupted] But what you do not
know is that since his direct approach failed, he is already plotting to over throw
the Black Bitch that is Selene.  My advice to you, Tristan Lehnsherr, is either make your move now for Kingship or wait and risk losing it to Marcus.  He is utterly incompetent and unfit to govern the Hellfire Club, despite his self-proclaimed 'charisma'.

Tristan:  [turns to leave] Unlike you, Ice Queen, I have no interest in becoming
King.  To consort with the likes of you on a daily basis by force would be
considered Hell.  Let Marcus have the throne, Selene will dispose of him when she
learns the truth.  [stops short of his exit, turning back to Emma] Exactly of what
interest was this to me?

Emma:  You may be rising in her favour, but you have not gained her trust, Tristan.
You are still the son of the man who almost dared to have her dethroned, her trust
is hard to gain, my friend.  But do as you will.  Tell Selene.  Perhaps you don't wish
to be King, then so be it.  In time someone else will, but I warn you: [narrows her
eyes] Here Tristan, do you tread on dangerously thin ice.

Tristan:  Good evening to you, Miss Frost.  [A smug smirk is plastered across
Emma's face as she watches Tristan exit] And to you as well, Sebastian. [Tristan
exits]

Emma:  [stunned, her composure becoming sharp and attentive]

Shaw:  [Sebastian emerges from the shadows, having been 'hidden' in the room] If
it was that easy for Tristan to spot me, I shan't think it difficult for Selene to either.
Be careful that she does not play you the fool, my dear.

Emma:  [resumes her composure] Perhaps you should learn to hide better, Sebastian. [chuckles]

Shaw:  [shares in the laugh] That just may be.  [moves to stop the music by lifting the needle from a record player.  Obviously the music stops abruptly] And now my dear, down to business. [proceeds to a chair positioned off to the side of Emma's bed and facing her, yet still open to the audience]

Emma:  Of course.

Shaw:  You do realize, of course, that I am not about revenge for my supposed
"murder," even though only now am I able to fully enjoy the use of my entire body.
[Emma nods] Very well.  That being established, I am curious as to why you are so
ready to destroy Selene and so easily.  She is not a naive woman, Emma.  Things
do not fall in one's lap as freely as they do hers.

Emma:  We've discussed this, Shaw.  Selene is mad.  Even since the Hellfire's most
humble beginnings in London in 1760 after whom we are now modeled, we have
striven for world domination.  Selene seeks to do it through any means possible.
Your 'murder,' Sebastian, was just the beginning.  She will let *nothing* stand in
her way.

Shaw:  As I have come to know on a much more personal level than you could
possibly comprehend.  You seem to give advice and administer commands so
freely, my dear Emma, so how would you like the same in return?

Emma:  [quirks her brow or cocks her head] Oh?

Shaw:  Deception.  Internal rather than external defiance.  If I know Selene, as I
most certainly do, she suspects.  Prove her wrong.  That is something she does not
suspect.

Emma:  [thoughtful] Consult the dead, indeed. . .

Shaw:  Pardon?

Emma:  Reference to you made by Selene at this evening's Council meeting.  And
speaking of which, Tristan now has control over your stocks and Shaw Industries.
Selene denied me the rights.

Shaw:  Blast!

Emma:  I share your sentiments.  It was either Tristan or Selene.  Which would you
prefer?

Shaw:  I see. . .

Emma: . . . Said the blind man. . .

[In unison] . . . As he picked up his hammer and saw.  [lights fade on the two
chuckling in Emma's quarters]

SCENE THREE

[lights come on in the library of the Hellfire Club Mansion.  Tristan has come here
to be 'alone' and debate whether or not to inform Selene, knowing the
consequences.  He is most likely found staring out a window as he is notoriously
famous for.  Tristan is also awaiting the arrival of another character. The weather
outside is less than pleasant.  He is possibly at extreme DSR]

Selene:  [Selene enters USL] Ah, Tristan, you're still up I see.  I was under the
impression you had business matters to attend.  Or has that already been dealt
with?

Tristan:  [remains stagnant] That depends on your definition of 'dealt with' Selene.

Selene:  Oh, is that so? Then enlighten me, dear Tristan.  What is *your*
definition?

Tristan:  Marcus seeks to over throw you and become King, though I believe he'd
be more fit as a Lady in Waiting.  Emma Frost was keeping the information and I
have as yet to determine it's worth.  Do with it as you will.

Selene:  [chuckles darkly] Fantastica!  I couldn't have said it better myself, darling.
Marcus certainly could not have thought to gain what is rightfully his by keeping
silent.  Dalla parte inferiore del mio cuore del blackend, li ringrazio. (Italian for:
"From the bottom of my blackend heart, I thank you." This will be revealed within
the scene, so no need to adjust it to English.) Oh! If you see Marcus, do send him
my way.  [ferocious thunder claps]   [Selene exits USR, chuckling evilly]

[CSR a new female figure enters. It is Arianna, Tristan's long-time love-interest
and member of the rebel X-Men.  She is "undercover" as a cleaning lady to see
Tristan.  She enters perhaps with a rag or feather duster in hand.  She begins by
dusting the table only half heartedly without a word.  After a few seconds Marcus
enters behind Arianna from the same direction.  As the pair enters, music begins playing softly, echoing through the library]

Marcus:  Tristan! I thought I might find you here.  I need to speak with you.

Tristan:  [his position is towards the window, uninterested in what Marcus has to
say] Regarding?

Marcus:  [a bit excited] This evenings Inner Circle meeting.

Tristan:  Kingship pleas, I imagine.

Marcus:  [taken aback] Very attentive for a man who is always staring out a
window.  But yes, I wou-

Tristan:  These matters you need not discuss with me.  Selene wishes to speak with
you.

Marcus:  [uneasy as he is slowly starting to realize that Tristan may have informed
Selene of his alterior motives, but attempts to remain calm] Oh.  Very well then.
Thank you, Tristan.  Farewell. [nervous and thus a bit slow, glancing back at
Tristan occasionally while exiting]

Arianna:  [She has remained dusting various things, but mostly the table
throughout the encounter with Marcus and Tristan.  She is thoughtful as she
deciphers Selene's earlier comment]"...From the bottom of my blackend heart, I
thank thee." [quieter] She is quite the monster.  I can't imagine Selene's comment
reeking of more evil.

Tristan:  [at the window he remains, but a gentle smile creeping across his lips] To
what do I owe the pleasure that I receive a visit from the lady of my life?

Arianna:  [almost dreamy in her tone] To a woman in love.  [stops her incessant
dusting]

Tristan:  [Finally turning his head keeping his face completely serious, forcing
back a smile] A woman in love with dusting things that need not be dusted?

Arianna:  [grins, leaning against whatever she was dusting] A woman in love with
you.

Tristan:  Which could be the downfall of your life and I would advise against it.  It
is dangerous to be here, Arianna.

Arianna:  I know, Tris'.  I have a job, as do you.  I'm merely fulfilling my duties.  In
the process I was hoping for a ray of sunshine.  [clap of thunder]  But it doesn't
sound like that's gonna happen.

Tristan:  I am afraid not tonight, my love.  Something is going to happen tonight
and job or no job, I beg of you to leave while you can.

Arianna:  [moves towards Tristan] And I'm afraid I can't do that.  Us 'rebels' don't
back off quite so easily, Tristan.  You should know that by now.

Tristan:  [darkened expression] You could be the Queen of England at this moment
and I would still advise you to leave.  If you don't leave now, you will befall the
same fate I'm sure someone else will be getting.  Are you looking to die tonight?

Arianna:  Aren't I always? That's part of my job, Tristan.  Yours does not require
that of you, but mine does.  I know the risks and still I come.  I wish you could
understand that and accept it.  [pauses for a moment] You do realize that if you
weren't such an *esteemed* member of the Hellfire Club neither of us would be in
this position.  [her tone implies this is an old and ceaseless battle between the two
lovers]

Tristan:  [pauses before turning once again to the window] If I was not an Elite
member of the Hellfire Club, I would be dead, as well as my family.  You have the
choice, I do not.  Now for the last time Arianna, leave or I will be forced to reveal
you myself.

Arianna:  You wouldn't do it, Tristan.  [follows him to the window, reaching her
hand out to his arm] You couldn't. . .

Tristan:  [unmoving] I could and I will be forced to if you do not.  I will not be the
traitor, it is not time. It is the one thing I will not do for you. [pauses] I would die
for you, Arianna, but not unless I knew you were safe when I did.

Arianna:  [nods quietly, understanding but makes no turn to leave but instead rests
her head on Tristan] I worry about you, love.  A lot. . .

Tristan:  [a slight smile] Do not worry about me.  I can keep myself alive.  Even
from Selene.

Arianna:  Perhaps. . .
[the two stand silent for a brief period, perhaps just staring at nothing in particular,
but rather into space, thinking]
[quietly] You know what?

Tristan:  Hmm?

Arianna:  You are quite possibly the most wonderful man I have ever known.

Tristan:  Then you have not known many men, I gather. [a gentle smile]

Arianna:  [a small chuckle, her eyes a bit starry] Not like I know you. . . [Tristan
turns and embraces Arianna fully and the two kiss.  As the kiss breaks, Arianna
speaks once more] All my lo- [a horrid male's scream is heard from offstage
interrupting Arianna] . . . What was that?

Tristan:  Did I not warn you? [moves quickly out of the corner] Stay behind me, my
love.

Arianna:  [pouts] Why don't I ever get to play the heroine? [Tristan turns and
smiles at her attempt to make light of the situation before heading off USR
followed quickly by Arianna.  The music ends as the scene does]

SCENE FOUR

[As the scene opens, the music starts out very loud and strong just as the lights come on. Over time the music will fade throughout the scene until it is no more. Selene's quarters.  Selene is standing in CS. Marcus is lying dead on the floor at her feet, with Selene towering over him, a malicious grin plastered across her face.]

Selene:  Treacherous wretch. [sneers at the body before preparing to walk off
stage.  She is stopped as Tristan and Arianna rush into the room from USL]

Arianna:  [under her breath] Goddess. . .

Tristan: [glances to Arianna as if saying 'leave now', then turns to Selene] Selene,
explain yourself.  Black Queen or not, this goes against the entire Hellfire Club,
which includes myself.  I demand to know what happened.

Selene:  And you are most certainly entitled.  [deliberate pause] ...So much like
your father.

Tristan: [eyes narrow] Do not compare me to him.  He was a failure.  I am not.
Quit avoiding the subject, Selene.  I demand to know what has gone on and if you
do not I will be forced to rip it from your mind.  You are a smart woman and I
believe you will not underestimate me, because I can and *will* do it. [music starts fading at a faster rate]

Selene:  It would seem that I've struck a tender nerve, dear Tristan.  But to quote
William [Shakespeare for those who don't know and depending on the audience,
the name Shakespeare can be included in the script], 'As You Like It'. [glances to
Arianna, suspiciously before taking a seat on the edge of a bed or desk] As you
know, Tristan, treachery is not allowed, nor appreciated with the Hellfire Club,
especially within the Inner Circle ranks.  Marcus, as you so graciously informed
me, was planning to use any means necessary to have me dethroned, though I am
not quite sure I understand why.  It is not something I take kindly to.  As such, he
was dealt with and is no longer a threat to any of us.  [music by now should no longer be heard]

Tristan: [folds his arms gently keeping his cold look] A threat to whom? I'm not
quite sure you worded that right in using the term 'us'.  As I am also one for dealing
with treachery in such a manner, unlike you, I take careful time planning these
things, not simple goings on a whim. Have you even considered the effects of what
your whim may cost the Hellfire Club?

Selene:  Don't I always? [smirk] Have you forgotten the agreement when joining
the ranks, darling?  It clearly states that if some 'unfortunate' accident were to
occur, the Hellfire Club would directly take control of one's establishments.  How
else would you have been allowed control over Shaw Industries?  [pauses
momentarily, not looking for a response, her eyes flitting back to Arianna] And
may I ask your name? Your face is unfamiliar to me.

Arianna:  [suddenly *very* uncomfortable] Uhm, Beth.  Elizabeth Daniels,
M'Lady.

Tristan:  [remains collected] Ms. Daniels is one of my housekeepers from the
Lehnsherr Estate, Selene.  This place looked rather horrid so I thought I would
bring in someone who could get the job done... Unlike Miss Frost's associates. Ms.
Daniels is also a friend of my sister and I would trust her with my life.  You may
not employ trust worthy servants Selene, I make a point to.

Selene:  So I see.  [eyes Arianna still before speaking up again] Speaking of Emma,
I feel it is only appropriate to inform her of the White Rook's sudden dismissal
from the Club.  If you'll excuse me, I really shou-

Emma:  [emerges from DSL, as if she'd been standing in the doorway the whole
time] No need, Selene.  I am very much aware of the circumstances.

Selene: [eyes Emma] Have we not already discussed this redundant matter of
rudeness, Miss Frost? I thought I made it perfectly clear that I did not appreciate
being interrupted.

Emma:  [crosses her arms delicately] Murder is not something I would exactly call
polite, Selene.

Selene:  Murder is such a dirty word.  I prefer the term "down-sizing".

Emma:  And I prefer the term "fifty-percent off" an already ridiculously
double-priced item.  The result is still the same.  You pay in full, one way or
another.

Tristan:  [to Arianna] When working with the Hellfire Club there is a wonderful
retirement plan, I assure you.

Arianna:  In which case I don't think I'll be retiring anytime soon.  [mumbles] I
hope.

Selene:  I'd learn to hold my tongue if I were you, Miss Frost, especially while we
have company.  [glances to 'Ms Daniels'] I will speak with you privately.  [exits
DSL without waiting for a response.  Emma turns to Tristan waiting for him to say
something.]

Tristan:  [mouths to Emma, or perhaps whispers] Checkmate.

Emma:  I trust you to keep Shaw's existence silent, Tristan.  I very much doubt
Selene would appreciate total betrayal from her 'beloved' and 'faithful' Inner Circle.

Tristan:  Guess we shall find out.  Best not to keep the Queen waiting.  [mockingly
whispers in her ear] She hates that. [stands back, folding his arms gently] But I
would not bring up anything she does not.

Emma:  Good evening once again, Tristan. I do sincerely hope this is our last
encounter this evening.  [nods to Arianna and exits again CSL]

Arianna:  [after a moment of silence, new music begins playing softly and she speaks] Can I breathe?

Tristan:  [turning to Arianna] Yes.  [tiresome, the subject matter so common now]
Emma and Selene will once again get into an argument and Emma will hold her
tongue for a time.  Inevitably the pair will clash again. [changing the subject, much
more serious tone] You did not take my advice before, but I suggest you take it
now, Ms. Daniels.

Arianna:  [grins] Always so proper.  [her smile soon fades, however] You do
realize that I'm gonna have to let the team know that Shaw is still alive, right and
that Selene didn't succeed in killing him like she thought she had?

Tristan:  [narrows his eyes] I would advise against that, Arianna.  You inform them
Shaw is alive and all hope of destroying Selene will go to Hell.

Arianna:  And if you don't believe in Hell?

Tristan:  You'll learn it.

Arianna:  [sighs quietly] I don't doubt it while the Evil that is Selene walks the
Earth.

Tristan:  You reveal Shaw and Selene will continue to walk the Earth.  Everyone
of your beloved X-Men you fight so hard with will be destroyed. All your of hopes
and dreams you ever had will be shattered. And I will be the one standing by
Selene watching them crumble. This isn't a delusion anymore Arianna... this is
Reality. Your choice.

Arianna:  [sighs once more, pondering] I wouldn't keep this secret for anyone but
you...

Tristan:  [makes his point final] Reveal Shaw and I will kill you, Arianna.  Do not
make me do that.

Arianna:  [nods gently] You have my word.

Tristan:  [nods in return] And I trust that.

Arianna:  [smiles] I should hope so.  You were starting to sound like you hated me.

Tristan:  [embraces her, quietly] Never think that... No matter what I say.

Arianna:  Never trust a man, period.  [grins] Just one question, love.  What are you
gonna do with Marcus' body?

Tristan: [chuckles] No... Never trust a man, especially if his last name is Lehnsherr.
[pauses, thinking of how to answer Arianna's question and glances to the body]
Selene's mess... Selene will deal with the body. Tonight I will be escorting my most
trusted employee home. [winks softly] My house or yours?

Arianna:  [quirks a brow] Yours sounds absolutely delightful.  After all the
cleaning I did to it, it needs to be used for something. [grins]

Tristan:  I would not have it any other way.  [grins] Will you be informing the
X-Men you were entertaining the enemy, or will this remain confidential as well?

Arianna:  Tristan, love? [implied mock innocence]

Tristan:  Yes?

Arianna:  Shut up. [the two engage in lip-lock and the lights fade as does the music]
